Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer

Update for Week of August 6, 2018:

Electrical Resistance Heating (ERH) treatment system operating measures as of August 3, 2018:

  • Average subsurface temperature has risen to 101º C versus a target temperature of 87º C.
  • The ERH system has applied 4,926,855 kWh of the estimated 8,255,000 kWh to complete treatment.  This represents 60% of the estimated total energy necessary to complete remediation.
  • The estimated TCE removal to-date is 765 pounds (through July 27th).
  • The perimeter air monitoring system has shown no TCE emissions at the perimeter of the site. The air monitoring results will be available on EPA’s website at https://cumulis.epa.gov/supercpad/cursites/csitinfo.cfm?id=0402598.

Please note that you may see occasional steam from the thermal treatment unit during system operation.  This is normal water condensation caused by weather conditions, and not a release of TCE vapor.
