Activated Carbon Treatment Units

Update for Week of July 09, 2018:

Electrical Resistance Heating (ERH) treatment system operating measures as of July 6, 2018:

  • Average subsurface temperature has risen to 60º C versus a target temperature of 87º C.
  • The ERH system has applied 2,407,000 kWh of the estimated 8,255,000 kWh to complete treatment. This represents 29% of the estimated total energy necessary to complete remediation.
  • The perimeter air monitoring system has shown no TCE emissions at the perimeter of the site. The air monitoring results are available on EPA’s website at https://cumulis.epa.gov/supercpad/cursites/csitinfo.cfm?id=0402598.
  • The estimated TCE removal to-date is 49 pounds.

Please note that you may see occasional steam from the thermal treatment unit during system operation.  This is normal water condensation caused by weather conditions, and not a release of TCE vapor.
